CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A painting featuring numerous significant events and milestones of this city from 2001 to 2021 was unveiled at Heroes Hall here on February 4.
The “mixed media painting” created by 55-year-old indigenous Fernandino artist Norman Tiotuico highlights the 20-year heritage timeline of the city. He created the masterpiece through acrylic and airbrush painting using the “dabbing” technique.
The launching was led by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, and City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan.
Launched in time for the 21st Cityhood Charter anniversary, the project was a continuation of an older timeline painting– which was made in 2005 – that featured historical events from 1754 to 2004.
The two artworks are just among the notable projects of Tiotuico for San Fernando. He was also behind the sculptures “Pasbul ning Kasalesayan” at City Hall and “Ding Bayaning Talaturu” inside the Department of Education building at the Civic Center in San Isidro.
“Ang laki ng aking pasasalamat sa Siyudad dahil sa tiwala na kanilang ibinibigay sa akin upang gawin ang mga large-scale projects na ito. Ang hangad natin ngayon ay makagawa pa tayo ng panibagong heritage timeline para naman sa mga susunod pang maraming taon dahil nakita natin ang mga mahahalagang pagbabago sa Siyudad,” Tiotuico shared.
The painting’s highlights started from the conversion of the then Municipality of San Fernando to City of San Fernando in 2001 and proceeds to significant events in culture and arts, economy, governance, and even the city’s COVID-19 response.
“Ang proyektong ito ay mananatili dito sa Heroes Hall dahil isa sa mga layunin natin ay ang patuloy na pagdadagdag ng mga art collections sa gusali. Pagkatapos ng pandemiya ay hangad natin itong buksan sa mga turista at bisita ng Siyudad,” said Pangilinan.
Santiago, for his part, said the project is a showcase of Fernandino excellence in arts.
“Bukod sa pagpapakita ng development natin bilang siyudad, naipakita sa proyekto ang kagalingan ng Fernandinos pagdating sa sining. Ako ay namangha sa disenyo, sa pagkakagawa ng proyekto at tunay na maipagmamalaki natin ito sa ibang lugar,” he shared.
