COA: Pogi left behind P1.5-B cash in Angeles City coffers

ANGELES CITY – A report from the Commission on Audit Angeles City shows that over ₱1.5 billion in cash was left in the coffers of the Angeles LGU by June 30, 2025, when former Angeles City Mayor, and now Pampanga First District Congressman, Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. stepped down from office.

The Statement of Financial Position of Angeles City shows that by June 30, 2025, the Total Current Assets of the Angeles LGU amounted to ₱1,718,448,947.96, composed of ₱1,527,785,718.94 in Cash and Cash Equivalents; ₱11,969,972.34 in Receivables; ₱62,745,437.70 in Inventories; and ₱115,947,818.98 in Prepayments and Deferred Charges.

Meanwhile, the Total Non-Current Assets by June 30, 2025 amounted to ₱9,363,118,472.74, composed of ₱11,153,766.66 in Investments; ₱21,941,212.58 in Receivables; ₱148,462,317.96 in Investment Property; ₱9,169,617,483.70 in Property, Plant and Equipment, Net; ₱2,403,431.40 in Biological Assets; and ₱9,540,260.44 in Intangible Assets.

According to the COA Report, the Total Assets of the Angeles LGU by June 30, 2025 amounted to ₱11,081,567,420.70 in total.

For the same period in 2024, the Total Current Assets of the Angeles LGU amounted to ₱2,260,567,867.57, composed of ₱1,878,330,784.46 in Cash and Cash Equivalents, ₱52,956,954.80 in Receivables, ₱86,943,434.17 in Inventories, and ₱242,336,694.14 in Prepayments and Deferred Charges.

Meanwhile, the Total Non-Current Assets amounted to ₱7,233,685,729.90, composed of ₱10,906,877.15 in Investments; ₱67,088,328.92 in Receivables; ₱148,462,317.96 in Investment Property; ₱6,994,026,028.07 in Property, Plant and Equipment, Net; ₱2,403,431.40 in Biological Assets; and ₱10,798,746.40 in Intangible Assets.

The financial statements of the Angeles LGU have been certified by Angeles City Auditor Amelita Inovero.
