Cong Christian Yap graces GSY basketball tourney

Gubernatorial candidate Tarlac second district Congressman Christian Tell Yap graced the opening of the 8th edition of the Governor Susan A. Yap Inter-Department Basketball Tournament at the Provincial Evacuation Center basketball court last October 10.

Yap, a basketball enthusiast himself, said in his message that sports competition among employees is a sign that everyone is enjoying serving the people.

“Maganda itong may sports competition kayo. Nagkakakilala kayo ng mabuti at masaya sa pagseserbisyo sa ating kapwa Tarlaqueños. Basketball is a respite from your hard work as provincial government employees,” he said.

Yap led the ceremonial tossing of the ball together with Provincial Sports Coordinator Jayl Manalang, Provincial Information Office head and concurrent Civil Security Unit officer Arvin Cabalu, Provincial Equipment Pool Officer and Provincial General Services Officer Engr. Ramon Cancio and PGT-CARES president Ruben Pascual Jr.

“Nandito kami kasama ni Cong Vic at Governor Susan upang payabungin pa lalo ang sports sa ating lalawigan,” Yap said.

The tournament involving 11 teams will have a single round-robin elimination with the top eight teams advancing to the play-in tournament.

The PIO-CSU (Provincial Information Office-Civil Security Unit) who went 14-0 in the elimination and 20-1 record over-all are last year’s champion.

Other participating teams include Provincial Tourism Office, Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO), Provincial Equipment Pool Office-Provincial General Services Office (PEPO-PGSO), Vice Governor’s Office-Sangguniang Panlalawigan (VGO-SP), Tarlac Provincial Jail (TPJ), Provincial Youth Development Office-Provincial Veterinary Office (PYDO-PVO), Gilberto O. Teodoro Memorial Hospital (GOTMH), Tarlac Provincial Hospital (TPH), Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO).

The basketball tournament is also a part of the provincial government’s celebration of Civil Service Commission’s 124th anniversary. (𝗣𝗜𝗢)
