Cops bust ₱2.7-M shabu, nab 4 in Bacolor

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – More than ₱2.7 million worth of suspected shabu, firearms, and other evidence were confiscated by the Pampanga Police Provincial Office during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Cabetican, Bacolor town over the weekend.

The operation was led by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Pampanga PPO, in collaboration with the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Bacolor MPS, and carried out in coordination with PDEA Region 3.

Seized during the operation were approximately 402 grams of suspected shabu, with a standard drug price of PHP 2,733,600. Other confiscated items included one (1) Para Ordnance caliber .45 pistol, one (1) caliber .45 magazine with three (3) live rounds of ammunition, one (1) Colt Trooper MK-III caliber .38 revolver loaded with three (3) live rounds of ammunition, one (1) gray Redmi cellular phone, and one (1) gray Hyundai Sonata with plate number TOG 788.

Charges are being prepared against the suspects for violations of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and the Omnibus Election Code, specifically in relation to the gun ban during the election period.

The operation was conducted amid the 2025 election period, during which the election gun ban is strictly enforced to ensure public safety and prevent election-related violence. The confiscated firearms will undergo verification to determine their registration status and any possible involvement in criminal activities.

Provincial police director PCol Jay C Dimaandal emphasized that the operation aligns with the national campaign against illegal drugs, illicit firearms, and election-related violations, emphasizing that the enforcement of the election gun ban is essential in fostering a climate of fairness and non-violence during the electoral process.

“By removing illegal firearms and dangerous drugs from our communities, we not only reduce the potential for violence but also create a safer environment where citizens can freely exercise their democratic rights,” he stated.
