CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — In an effort to advance greening and reforestation initiatives, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) distributed 5,000 seedlings across Central Luzon.
Among the beneficiaries were various communities that received seedlings intended for reforestation and livelihood.
These included Molave and Ipil for reforestation and urban greening, as well as Guyabano and Mulberry for agroforestry and income-generating purposes, with the DENR urging the public to actively take part in greening and reforestation initiatives.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the seedling distribution serves as a concrete way of connecting environmental protection with community development.
“By providing native tree species, the DENR aims to restore degraded lands, enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and create more livable and climate-resilient communities,” Pablo said.
He emphasized that sustaining such efforts requires strong community participation, with the DENR ensuring the availability of quality planting materials through its regional and field offices.
The agency is also working closely with local government units, people’s organizations, and other stakeholders to guarantee that tree-growing activities are not only implemented but maintained over time.
“Together with our field offices, we remain steadfast in supporting communities by expanding access to quality seedlings and building stronger partnerships. Our shared goal is to create greener, healthier, and more resilient communities for the next generations,” Pablo added.
Through its seedling distribution program, the DENR encourages beneficiaries and partners to contribute to the Bagong Pilipinas vision for environmental sustainability and climate-resilient communities, underscoring how tree planting directly improves both the environment and people’s quality of life.
