DOTr sec inspects NSCR Clark depot

Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista inspected on August 12, 2024 the Clark depot of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Extension Project.

Substantial progress was reported with ongoing construction of buildings and facilities, including Operations Control Center (OCC), Workshop Building for major train maintenance, and others.

Secretary Bautista was joined by Takema Sakamoto of JICA – Japan International Cooperation Agency, DOTr Undersecretaries Jeremy Regino and Anneli Lontoc, Philippine National Railways (PNR) Chairman Mike Macapagal, and PNR OIC General Manager Celeste Lauta.

The Clark depot forms part of the 147-kilometer, 35-station NSCR system that will run from Clark International Airport in Pampanga to Calamba in Laguna, reducing end-to-end travel time from the current four hours to less than two hours via train.

Once completed, the entire rail system will service 800,000 passengers on its first year of operations.
