DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon today said that Father Carmelo “Tito” Caluag will be part of the Citizens Participatory Audit that would help ensure integrity in government’s infrastructure projects.
The announcement was made today as DPWH top executives headed by Dizon met in Clark with former heads of the agency – Rogelio “Babes” Singson and Jose “Ping” De Jesus.
Dizon said that the participation of Caluag is an offshoot of President Marcos’ recent meeting with bishops from the Roman Catholic church. He added that Caluag will be representing the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.
“Ang key dyan (CPA) is the cooperation of civil society organizations and the church. As part of the outcome of the meeting with President, nag volunteer ang mga bishops and to spearhead na tumulong sa citizens participatory (audit),” Dizon said.
He added that having CPA in DPWH is part of the advice of Singson who is now part of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure formed by Malacañang to investigate anomalous flood control projects.
Caluag is known for his stint at Ateneo De Manila University. In June last year, he was appointed as Executive Director of Caritas Manila.
