Garbo: Better support for artists

MABALACAT CITY – Mabalacat Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has vowed to uplift the welfare of local artists and other creative talents in the city.

During the opening of “Pamiaduangan: A Visual Art Exhibit”, Garbo announced that the old municipal building will now be permanent gallery for artworks of local artists.

“Ang lumang munisipyo po, kung makikita ninyo ngayon, ay ginagawa na para maging museo. Dito po natin dadalhin ang ating mga paintings at iba pang mga likha,” Garbo said in his speech.

The local chief executive also rallied on artists and local officials present to support programs that lead to growth.

“Ang ‘pamiaduangan’ po ay may kahulugan na ang ibig sabihin ay pakikipagtulungan at kooperasyon. Sana po tayo ay magkaisa sa mga magagandang proyekto sa ating bayan,” Garbo said.

Staged jointly by the Mabalacat Tourism Office, Mabalacat City College and Sibul Ning Kalalangan, the visual arts exhibit is the city’s celebration of the National Arts Month.

A total of 33 artists and about 100 artworks are on display at the Gabaldon Hall of the Mabalacat Elementary School. It will run until February 28, 2022.

Also present during the opening are Board Member Cherry Manalo, Councilor Win Garbo, Rox Pena, MCC President Mich Ong, Tourism Officer Arwin Paul Lingat, MES Principal Jayson Ryan de Leon local artists led by Dodjie Aguinaldo.
