CLARK FREEPORT – City of San Fernando Mayoralty candidate Rosve Henson said that engineering intervention combined with traffic management system is needed to keep the capital town from gridlocks.
An engineer by profession, Henson said that creating new roads and keeping existing thoroughfares free from encroachments could keep the premier city with less traffic jams.
The city’s downtown area has been known for its heavy traffic, with its narrow primary roads that were first built during the Spanish era.
“It’s a combination of engineering intervention, opening more roads, avoid diggings, good traffic management system and of course discipline,” Henson said.
Henson was guest in the weekly Balitaan inside Clark hosted by Capmpangan in Media Inc. and Clark Development Corporation.
Henson said that he is also looking at initiating expropriation proceedings to solve traffic problem as an “ultimate” measure. This involves acquiring private properties as part of the powers of the local government units.
He clarified that he will exhaust all available measures such as negotiations and discussions before resorting to expropriations.
“We could sit down with owners of private lands to discuss and reach something for common and greater good,” he said.
