Hermosa fisherfolks receive aid from BFAR

BALANGA CITY (PIA) – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) distributed about P600,000 worth of motorized boats and various types of fish nets for river and fish pond usage of fisherfolks in Hermosa town, that will help them maintain the production of water resources.

BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz said this is in support to the municipal government’s COVID-19 pandemic recovery program.

“Additional production of aquatic resources from the provided inputs will also generate jobs for the women of Hermosa through the added value of producing fishes such as deboning, bottling, and smoking thus empowering their economic ventures,” he added.

BFAR National Director Eduardo Gongona led the awarding of inputs to the recipients.

In his message, Gongona lauded the teeming fisheries production of Central Luzon, particularly in aquaculture.
