TARLAC CITY — The provincial government led by Gov. Susan Yap hosted two activities on June 10 to honor the late former Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” M. Cojuangco Jr.
Yap and Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David offered a Holy Mass and conducted a tree-planting activity at Sitio Baag in San Jose, Tarlac.
June 10 is the birth anniversary of Tarlac’s beloved son Cojuangco. It was declared a Special Non-Working Holiday in the entire province of Tarlac to pay tribute to his contributions to the province and the country.
Republic Act 11729 or the “Danding Cojuangco Day” was signed into Law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on April 17, 2022. It is an Act which originated in the House of Representatives and was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Philippines on September 23, 2020 and January 17, 2022 respectively.
The declaration of the special day was contained in an ordinance passed by the Tarlac Provincial Board under Provincial Ordinance 004-2021 authored by Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David.
The Danding Cojuangco Day will be observed yearly.
Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III, Speaker of the House of Representatives Lord Allan Jay Q. Velesco, Secretary of the Senate Myra Marie D. Villarica and the Secretary General of the House of Representatives Mark Llandro M. Mendoza are likewise signatories of the Act.
