Adrian Kyle Magsino Venzon, whose childhood days were spent in Pampanga, has graduated Summa Cum Laude at the highly prestigious Yale University.
Finishing Bachelor of Arts in English, Venzon’s feat is one for the books as entering an Ivy League school does not happen everyday for any national, much more, finish with very high honors.
He was also given an Intensive Certification in Educational Studies.
Venzon, in a phone interview, said that he plans to teach English at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.
Venzon’s father comes from a business family in Porac while his mother belongs to the Candelaria clan from Mabalacat City.
At 6 years old, their family migrated to the US in March 2008. He still speaks Capampangan. He was admitted at the Yale University in 2019.
“Growing up, being Filipino has really influenced who I surround myself with and the values I try to uphold in my daily life. For example, l’ve always grown up being expected to respect my elders. So, in school, since I was much more obedient and more respectful of my teachers, it allowed me to be seen as more mature which gave me more advantages,” Venzon once wrote in the socmed of Kasama: The Filipinx Club at Yale.
Adrian to many of his friends and family, was into a lot of extra curricular activities while at Yale.
He was a member of The Whiffenpoofs, an acapella group of Yale established more than a 100 years ago in New Haven, Connecticut. In August last year, the group wowed audiences at Angeles City and Metro Manila as part of their 16-country world tour.
In 2021-2022, Venzon also served as Co-President of Kasama, which is a Filipino group of young, active and outstanding Ivy Leaguers.
Adrian spent prep school at Brightwoods in Angeles City before migrating to Las Vegas, Nevada where he finished his elementary and middle school. Prior to his qualifying at Yale, he finished high school in New Hampshire at the Philips Exeter Academy, another prestigious school established in 1781.
