MABALACAT CITY – The city government of Mabalacat was awarded the Gawad Edukampyon Award under Early Childhood and Care Development (ECCD) – Component City category at the Novotel in Manila on Friday, June 3.
Mabalacat City garnered an average of 95 percent and was one of the few cities across the country to be recognized for its excellent performance in public service through its strategic implementation of programs and projects including sustainability in providing early childhood care.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo received the award together with Gender and Development (GAD) officer Charlo Costales.
Garbo expressed his gratitude for the conferment as it recognizes the support of the city government towards the learning and continuity plan of the Department of Education.
“This award is a manifestation of our vision for the holistic development of our young Mabalaqueños to provide healthy development in their early years. Being one of the few awardees is a validation of our efforts to promote the rights of the children, to support their parents, and to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood care and development,” said Garbo.

“Together with my fellow public servants in Mabalacat City Government, we hope to continue the programs and projects under ECCD to ensure young children and improve the quality standards of public and private ECCD programs,” he added.
The Gawad Edukampyon Awards was created to recognize excellent performance of local chief executives and their respective local government units in implementing programs to help support DepEd’s basic education learning continuity plan.
