MABALACAT CITY – This city continues to exhibit the highest vaccination coverage among local government units in Central Luzon, with 96.06% (first dose immunity) and 78.68% (full dose immunity) of its target population.
The regional office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, in this light, has invited the city along with other local government units with high inoculation coverage, to submit a documented report on their vaccination best practices.
Earlier, Secretary Vince Dizon, National Task Force Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer and testing czar, cited efforts of Mabalacat City in helping curb the spread of COVID-19 through vaccination.
Mabalacat Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, for his part, cited the collective efforts of the LGU, city council, CRIS program, frontliners, our barangay officials, and constituents in the fast-tracking of the vaccination drive in the city.
The people behind this has ensured that guidelines set by our city government are followed to speed up the vaccination program, Garbo said.
Garbo earlier said the city targets to achieve herd immunity by November 15, with only around 27,000 residents targeted to be vaccinated by the end of this month.
He also reiterated his willingness to assist neighboring municipalities and cities in the inoculation of their target number of residents, which he vowed earlier during his interview with the Capampangan In Media held last October.
Garbo also said that the national government has vowed to provide more vaccines to ramp up the vaccination program in the city.
