Mayor Garbo orders vigilance vs suspicious activities

Following a recent incident in a neighboring town where authorities uncovered an illegal POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) operation, Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has issued a stern directive to the local police, city hall inspectors, and barangay officials to intensify efforts in ensuring that no buildings, facilities and establishments with suspicious activities operate within the city limits.

Garbo emphasized the importance of careful scrutiny when issuing permits to businesses, particularly those in sensitive industries. He stressed the need for continuous monitoring of establishments even after permits have been granted to prevent illegal activities like POGO from taking root in Mabalacat City.

“The events in the neighboring town serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illicit activities such as illegal online operations. We must remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding our community from such threats,” the mayor stated.

Garbo also highlighted the significance of community cooperation in combating illegal activities, urging residents to report any establishments with suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.

“We cannot combat these threats alone. The cooperation of our kababayans is crucial in our efforts to maintain peace and safety of Mabalacat City. By working together, we can ensure that our city remains free from illegal activities and preserves the well-being of our kabalens,” Garbo added.
