MABALACAT CITY – Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, who has contracted COVID-19 anew, has assured his constituents that he will perform his duties remotely as a public servant in the best possible way.
In a Facebook post, Garbo said he tested positive for COVID despite following health protocols.
“Being in public service, I know that I am vulnerable to getting exposed to COVID-19 and I have accepted this challenge. I must do whatever it is needed to deliver our services to the people amidst the surge of new cases,” he said.
He also called on his constituents to take the pandemic seriously.
“Although I am feeling better and in good physical condition while in isolation, let me reiterate to my kabalens that we should take this pandemic seriously. Let us do our part in order to stop the spread of this virus,” he said.
He also asked the people of Mabalacat City to fervently pray not only for him, but also for frontliners and for the whole community that these new challenges brought about by this pandemic can be overcome.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Geld Aquino is also in self-isolation for also contracting the virus.
“Tayo po ay panandaliang nagpahinga ng ilang araw at nag self-isolate bilang pagsunod sa health protocol,” he said in his Facebook post.
According to Aquino, he is thankful that he has been fully vaccinated.
“Napakalaking ginhawa po ang idinulot ng bakuna in comparison noong wala pa tayong bakuna at tayo po ay nagkasakit,” he said.
He is also calling on his constituents to get vaccinated and get their booster shots to avoid contracting the virus, especially with the surge of cases.
“Hinihikayat po namin ang lahat na magpabakuna at magpa-booster na upang tayo ay makaiwas sa sakit sa kadahilanang tayo po ay kasalukuyang nasa flu season at onslaught ng bagong Omicron variant,” he said.
