As Mekeni Food Corporation celebrates its 40th year, the multi-awarded food processing company looks to double down on its achievements for the community and for the families it serves.
In an FB post, Mekeni President Pruds Garcia said that the company is set to renew its commitment to quality, service and community outreach in the coming years.
“We recommit ourselves to creating meaningful experiences, within and bevond Mekeni: within our organization through how we lead, support, and grow our people and bevond our walls through the food we produce, the families we serve, and the communities we touch,” Garcia said.

The declaration comes after completing a two-day strategic planning facilitated by Louie John M. Banta, a leading management consulting firm.
Mekeni started in 1986 as a backyard business by teacher-couple Felix and Meding Garcia in Porac, Pampanga.
It has since blossomed into a renowned Pinoy brand that is now exported, distributed and sold in 23 countries. One of its flagship product is the Picnic hotdogs.
It has hurdled various challenges in the country and Asian region such as the currency crisis, the African Swine Fever and the US housing and economic bust.
In 1991, Mt. Pinatubo’s eruption also briefly halted its operations but continued and received even various national recognitions, including Hall of Fame Award as the best meat processing plant from National Meat Inspection Council.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic, it did not lay off workers but came out slugging in the processed food market with its Bayanihan products.
“What took 40 years to build they now need to achieve in far less time. So they’re choosing to accelerate, to innovate and to duplicate their discipline – the kind that turns ambition into execution. The next 40 years will not be an extension. It will be a reinvention,” Banta said in a separate FB post.
Mekeni is also known for its Galing ng Batang Mekeni that has sent hundreds of employees’ dependents to schools, with some finishing with Latin honors in university degrees. It has also sustained its corporate social responsibility not just in Pampanga but also elsewhere.
