Mekeni Food Corporation celebrated 154 outstanding students at this year’s Galing ng Batang Mekeni, a recognition program that highlights the academic excellence and perseverance of the children of Mekeni employees.
This year’s awardees included 74 elementary pupils, 46 high school students, 30 senior high school students, and 4 college students. Each awardee was recognized for their dedication to learning and for exemplifying the core values that Mekeni upholds, excellence, resilience, and malasakit.
Rooted in the advocacy of the company’s founders, who were educators themselves, the program continues to reflect Mekeni’s commitment to nurturing future generations through education and values formation.
“Education has always been close to our hearts because it is where our journey started,” said Pruds Garcia, President of Mekeni Food Corporation. “Through Galing ng Batang Mekeni, we continue to support our employees by recognizing their children’s hard work and reminding them that success is possible when values and learning come together. These young achievers represent hope, not just for their families, but for our communities and our country.”
The awarding ceremony, held in Porac, Pampanga, was filled with pride and joy as parents and their children gathered to receive their certificates and tokens of recognition.

For Mary Camille Santos, a college awardee, the recognition was a reminder that every effort counts. “This award is not just for me; it’s for my parents who work hard every day. I want to make them proud and someday give back the way Mekeni gives to us.”
Parents, too, shared how meaningful the event was to them. Crystal Kay Dacusin from the Sales department said, “Thank you for this opportunity to honor the efforts not just of our children, but also of the parents and guardians. We are truly a family-oriented company, giving value and importance to the employees, their families, and the whole community.”
The event also served as a reaffirmation of Mekeni’s belief that supporting the dreams of its people goes beyond the workplace.

“We see this not just as a reward, but as a commitment, a commitment to our people and their families,” said Marilou Uy, Assistant Vice President for HR and Exports. “Our founders instilled in us the value of education and community, and this is our way of paying it forward. We hope these young Batang Mekeni grow up to be changemakers.”
As Mekeni continues to grow as a global Filipino brand, Galing ng Batang Mekeni remains a heartfelt reminder of its roots: a company that was built not only on quality and excellence, but also on compassion and a deep respect for the transformative power of education.
Now on its 18th year, Galing ng Batang Mekeni is a program established in 2008 that began as a simple initiative to support the education of employees’ children. Over the years, it has grown into a long-running tradition that motivates students to excel in school, not only for their own future, but also to make their parents and community proud.
