CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The lone rival in the reelection bid of Vice Governor Lilia Pineda has withdrawn his candidacy on Monday.
Ricardo Guevarra, who is running under the Liberal Party, withdrew his certificate of candidacy at 4: 30 p.m. at the Commission on Elections provincial office here.
Guevarra, reportedly from Candaba, Pampanga, is said to be a trusted employee of businessman Danilo Baylon who is challenging Pineda’s son.
Guevarra’s retreat from the vice gubernatorial race made Pineda’s reelection bid uncontested, like in her first term.
Before becoming vice governor, Pineda had completed her three terms as governor in 2019 and slid as vice to her only son Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda. Before her capitol stints, she counted 19 years as councilor, mayor and provincial board member.
Endearingly called Nanay, her administration prioritized health and social services.
