CAMP OLIVAS – Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay said some 1,933 out of 3,102 barangays in Central Luzon have been declared drug-cleared.
Before declaring that a barangay is free from illegal drug activities, the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs must validate the non-availability of drug supply, the absence of drug transit activity, clandestine drug laboratory and chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den, drug pushers and users in the area.
Among the seven provinces and two cities in Region 3, Nueva Ecija topped the list with a total of 519 drug-cleared barangays.
“Needless to say, I am in awe that while I am the Regional director of PRO3, more than half of the barangays in the four corners of the region which are under my watch have been declared drug-cleared and I am proud of this achievement dahil alam ko po na magsusunod-sunod na ang madedeklarang drug-cleared barangays and even provinces in the coming months dahil sa walang humpay naming pagpapatupad ng barangay drug clearing program kasama ng PDEA. Tulungan nyo po kami sa aming layuning ito dahil hindi lamang po sa amin ang labang ito kundi laban nating lahat upang makamit natin ang isang drug-free region,” Baccay said.
