Political tarpaulins of Councilor Amos B. Rivera and his team ‘Bayung Angeles’ are seen posted on trees in Barangay Pandan, Angeles City on November 26, 2021 – in direct violation of Chapter 15 of City Ordinance 431 (Environmental Code of Angeles City), which penalizes the posting of billboards, posters, streamers, and similar such promotional materials on trees in public places.
Photos of Rivera’s tarpaulins were contributed by Edilberto Morales of Barangay Pandan.
This is quite the contrary to his image as protector of the environment, observers said.
In January last year, Rivera joined the community-led vigil to save the 259 trees along Friendship Highway that would be affected by the road-widening project of the DPWH. Rivera posted photos of himself during the vigil on his social media account.
