In a symbolic event, Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino raised the Philippine flag to mark the 124th Philippine Independence Day at the Mabalacat Elementary School (MES) this morning.
Together with Garbo and Aquino are provincial Board Member Win-Win Garbo and Department of Education superintendent Leonardo Zapanta as well as DepEd officials and faculty members.
With the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pag-suong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas” (Rise Towards the Challenge of a New Beginning), the city government kicked off the event with a performance by MES students.
A wreath-laying ceremony in front of the statue of Dr. Jose Rizal followed, held at the Old Town Hall in barangay Poblacion.
