TARLAC CITY – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) has a new Deputy Commander in the person of Brigadier General Leandro Abeleda III.

He was received by Acting Chief of Unified Command Staff Colonel Benjamin Daniel Tianco, and was then accorded with military honors rendered by officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian human resources.

“I look forward to settling with Team NOLCOM, I will do my best in my new designation. In our military organization, changes are inevitable and sometimes rapid as our officers and personnel come and go but what is most important is that we firmly uphold the discipline, teamwork, and standard of excellence in all our actions as we aim to achieve NOLCOM’s mission,” Abeleda said in his assumption speech.

NOLCOM Acting Commander Major General Andrew Costelo welcomed and congratulated the newly-assigned officer.

“Being the Deputy Commander is undoubtedly critical to the mission accomplishment of NOLCOM. The job at hand will be challenging, nevertheless with the help of our capable and dedicated staff, and everyone else in Team NOLCOM, nothing is impossible,” Costelo said.

“Your stint here will be worthwhile with your deep sense of service and commitment to the mission, I know you can sustain the thrusts that we have started and pursued, and preserve the gains of the unit,” he added.

“The success of Team NOLCOM is a collective reflection of our internal collaboration, deliberate outlook, and joint culture,” Costelo emphasized.

Abeleda is a member of Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991 and has completed multiple civilian schoolings such as Masters in Industrial Relations from University of the Philippines-Diliman and Leadership Management and Development Program from Ateneo de Manila University.

He has also completed numerous military training and foreign schoolings such as Intel in Combatting Terrorism and International Officers Advance course in Arizona, United States, and Combined Defense Intelligence and Analysis at the Australian Defense Intelligence Training Center.

Abeleda previously served as Deputy Commander of the Army 502nd Infantry Brigade stationed in Isabela.
