CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Saying he wanted to “help” Fernandinos and Vice President Leni Robredo win in her presidential bid, former City of San Fernando Mayor Oscar Rodriguez has substituted for a Liberal Party candidate on Monday.
Rodriguez’s entry made the mayoralty race in this Pampanga’s capital city a four-cornered fight.
Rodriguez, 75, replaced LP’s Lusito Samson.
In the running are Dolores Barangay Capt. Vilma Caluag of PDP-Laban, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin of Aksyon Demokratiko and Provincial Board Member Rosve Henson of Kambilan.
Rodriguez ended his three terms as mayor in 2016, with good governance as a hallmark. He had served in Congress for four terms after a stint as provincial administrator.
He chaired the Liberal Party in the province until 2016.
