MAGALANG, Pampanga – This municipality led by Mayor Maria Lourdes “Malu” Paras Lacson on Friday inaugurated the P5-million LED streetlights funded through the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The DILG gave the incentive to Magalang after it earned the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2022 under the leadership of Lacson.
“It is truly a remarkable event as we take another step towards progress and ensure the safety and security of our residents and visitors alike. Today marks a significant milestone in Magalang’s journey towards progress and development,” said Lacson in her speech.
“This project, which was funded by the award we received, symbolizes our commitment to improving the quality of life for all our constituents,” she added.
There are 100 new LED street lights installed along the Angeles-Magalang Road from Barangays San Francisco to San Pedro 2.
Joining her in the simple ceremony are DILG Provincial Director Myra Soriano, Councilors Norman Lacson and Popoy Miranda and other officials.
Soriano said she had been assigned in Bulacan and Bataan and the lady mayors in both provinces were good.
“But in Pampanga, they are better,” said Soriano, referring to Lacson.
“Additionally, these street lights will promote economic growth. Well-lit streets encourage businesses to thrive, attract investors, and stimulate tourism. With brighter and more inviting main thoroughfares, we can further bolster our local economy and create more opportunities for the Magaleños,” said Lacson.
For his part, Councilor Lacson disclosed that the mayor is determined to add more LED streetlights along Angeles-Magalang Road once funding becomes available.
