Carlos Luis Fernandez, and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Senior Asst. Gen. Manager Lourdes Reyes.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) successfully launched its new Manila – Da Nang direct flights today, with Flight PR 585 departing Manila at 11:10 AM.

The Philippine flag carrier thus began its initial thrice weekly Manila – Da Nang service, with a planned increase to four weekly flights by November 2025. The early morning departure from Manila ensures passengers can enjoy a full day in Da Nang, making the most of their trip from the moment they arrive.

Various local officials and aviation stakeholders celebrated the inaugural flight with a send-off ceremony at Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

“We at Philippine Airlines are proud to celebrate our inaugural service linking Manila and Da Nang,” PAL President Richard Nuttall said. “As we welcome Da Nang to our global network, we affirm that PAL now serves three destinations in Vietnam, more than in any other ASEAN country, and that speaks of the solid bond of friendship that unites the Filipino and Vietnamese people. We look forward to flying travelers to the gateway of Central Vietnam.”

“This flight is more than a connection between two cities; it’s a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams,” His Excellency Lai Thai Binh, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Philippines said. “This is particularly significant as both countries prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership in 2025 and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Philippines diplomatic relations in 2026 (coinciding with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship).”

“As Vietnam continues to rise as one of the most visited destinations by Filipino travelers, and as the Philippines also welcomes more visitors from Vietnam, this direct connection responds to the growing demand for accessible and enriching tourism experience,” Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Department of Tourism (DOT) Chief of Staff and Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation Coordination & Resource Generation said.

Da Nang is gaining popularity as a prime holiday destination because of its diverse tourism offerings, thriving food and cafe scene, cultural experiences, scenic views and easy access to UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

At present, PAL serves Vietnam with a total of 24 weekly nonstop flights to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Hanoi – including three weekly flights that connect Cebu directly to Ho Chi Minh City.

For the Da Nang flights, PAL is deploying Airbus A321 jetliners that accommodate up to 199 passengers, offering both Business Class and Economy Class service options.
