The Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. has commended the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the NLEX Corporation for their prompt and unified action in addressing the inconvenience brought about by the ongoing repairs at the Marilao Bridge.
The temporary toll relief for motorists using the northbound segment of the NLEX from Balintawak to Meycauayan effective March 24, 2025, at 12 noon is a welcome development, PamCham Chairman of the Board Rene Romero said.
“The immediate intervention not only alleviates the burden on the commuting public but also exemplifies the power of swift and responsive governance in partnership with a socially conscious private sector,” he added.
The PamCham, Romero said, is thankful to Secretary Vince Dizon of the DOTr for his tireless dedication in resolving transport related challenges.
“His proactive leadership, marked by immediate coordination with NLEX management, shows a deep understanding of the plight of our commuters and motorists. Secretary Vince’s relentless efforts to find solutions amid crises reaffirm our confidence in the DOTr’s commitment to serving the Filipino people,” he said.
Equally deserving of praise, Romero said, is the NLEX Corporation for its sensitivity and timely response to the call for public relief. He said by heeding the appeal of the DOTr, NLEX has demonstrated a commendable level of corporate responsibility and civic empathy.
“We really would like to appeal to NLEX to make every effort to complete the repair of the Marilao Bridge before the coming Holy Week. This would greatly ease the travel of thousands of Filipinos journeying to their provinces to be with their families during this important time of reflection and tradition,” Romero added.
This toll relief is more than just a temporary waiver, Romero noted, and is a symbol of public-private synergy working in harmony for the greater good.
“We look forward to the continued progress in the repair works and the eventual full restoration of the Marilao Bridge. Until then, let us support and extend our patience to the hardworking teams on the ground,” he said.
“Once again, thank you, Secretary Vince Dizon, and thank you, NLEX Corporation, for this impactful initiative,” Romero stated.
