Pampanga to benefit from new training on emerging tech

Pampanga’s non-formal education sector gets a boost as a California-based non-profit organization has set its sights once again on providing training and livelihood opportunities on emerging technologies.

The California Technological Care (CTC) of Northern California will be providing training to youth, housewives and home-based workers on emerging technologies like AI (artificial intelligence), web development, coding, and cyber security.

This was announced by CTC President and Co-Founder Demos Punsalan at News@Hues, a media forum of the Pampanga Press Club at Hues Restaurant in cooperation with Park Inn by Radisson Clark.

In partnership with En Elle International Outsourcing Corporation, a training course dubbed “Digital Home Economics” would be launched by CTC for Pampanga, where livelihood opportunities on work-from-home arrangements await successful participants.

“We are launching this so that local communities can have access to technology and education. It is in the grassroots where we would like to come in,” Punsalan said.

CTC has long been providing livelihood opportunities through bridging the so-called digital divide. In the 2000s, it has provided computers to various communities it collects and refurbishes from US companies. One of the recipient communities are the Aetas living in Kalangitan, Capas, Tarlac where CDC held a “Cyber Barangayan”.

Herrie Rivera, president and CEO of En Elle, said that their company will be providing the venue for the training.

“The partnership between En Elle and CTC would engage the community by training households, returning OFWs, working students and even senior citizens on emerging technologies such as AI, Virtual Admin work, web development, and basic coding,” Rivera said.

En Elle is a start up BPO company that targets companies in the US, Australia/NZ, Europe and select Asian countries. By outsourcing support services or back office activities, they are able to scale their business and focus on their main business activities.

Support from Pampanga Capitol

The proposed project has been welcomed by the Pampanga provincial government.

In a meeting at the Capitol, Rivera said that Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda has committed to support the program by providing transportation allowances. Rivera said that Pineda has requested to provide more slots for trainees coming from the province.

Relatedly, Punsalan has also announced that he is working on a sisterhood agreement being arranged between Solano County in California and the province of Pampanga. This, Punsalan said, would lead to exchange programs in culture, arts, education, training and livelihood.
