PLDT’s top communications executive has underscored journalistic values in the line of work.
First Vice President and head of Public Engagement Group Roby Alampay said that joining the country’s integrated telco company has to be aligned with his values. Alampay hosted officers of the Pampanga Press Club at Widus Hotel inside Hann Resort in Clark Freeport.
The former news anchor of One News and editor doubled down on values like truth, accountability, empowerment and transparency.

“We’re just happy to align with you and to reaffirm with you that we stand for the same values. If you ever feel that we are straying or we are missing on certain values, or we are failing to live up on the values that I mentioned, the values of truth, values of accountability, values of transparency, and for that matter, the value of empowering our citizens,” he said.

For his part, PPC Chairman Noel Tulabut expressed elation that Alampay “continues to identify himself as one of us in media” and thanked PLDT SMART for the close relationship in the past 20 years.
Joining PLDT a year ago as its top
media, PR executive and messaging expert, Alampay also said that by November this year, the company would launch its celebrations for its 100th year in 2028. He asked PPC members for some local stories that could be narrated in the company’s centennial celebrations two years from now.

“We want the regions, we want the provinces. We want communities to also tell their stories about them. What was telecommunications and communications. For that matter, when these (Clark and Subic) were American bases, in the time of the Vietnam War, in the Korean War,” Alampay said.

Alampay also brought with him the campaign for disaster preparedness and resiliency under the SAFEPH advocacy program.

Prior to hosting PPC, Alampay also paid a call on Mabalacat City Mayor Geld Aquino to discuss AI-driven governance where PLDT also donated an “AI In A Box” device.
