PORAC, Pampanga — The Porac police now has under its custody one of two suspects in a 2023 murder case in this town.
After intensified efforts by the local police, suspect Rex Zafe was arrested in Virac, Catanduanes on July 4, 2024, and is now in detention.
He was presented to Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil on July 25 at the Porac Municipal Police Station.
Mayor Capil lauded the local police led by Lieutenant Colonel Samuel A. Quibete for their dedication to public safety that led to the arrest of Rex Zafe.
“Thank you for your commitment to public safety,” Capil said.
Recently, the police filed double homicide and frustrated homicide charges against Zafe and his father Robert Zafe before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in the City of San Fernando.
The two individuals were involved in stabbing and killing two individuals, Matthew Morden and Mario Morden, after a heated argument during a basketball game in Barangay Mitla last October 1, 2023. Another individual, Martin Morden, was hurt in the incident.
As part of his commitment to prioritize peace and order in his town, Capil has instructed the local police to intensify efforts in eliminating criminal activities and arresting elements involved.
“Our vision for our community is one where every resident can live without fear and where the rule of law is upheld,” Capil shares. “In this town, we will not tolerate heinous acts because we want Porac to be peaceful and livable.”
