Despite the heavy rains, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on October 24, 2024 distributed ₱2,000 kabuhayan assistance, and five kilos of rice, to 821 members of the Aeta community in Barangay Sapangbato.
City Councilor Carlos Salvador, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Barangay Sapangbato Kagawad Jun Jun Tolentino, and members of the Gender and Development Office, headed by Mina Cabiles, joined Mayor Lazatin during the distribution of the assistance.
This is in line with the city’s celebration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) month.
According to Calaguas, among the beneficiaries are 221 families in Sitio Babo; 171 in Sitio Bliss; 101 in Sitio Balaraw; and 328 in Sitio Target.
“Sinisiguro po ni Mayor Lazatin na mahatiran ng tulong ang mga kababayan nating IP, at mapangalagaan ang kanilang kapakanan,” Cabiles said.
Mayor Lazatin recognizes the significant contribution of IPs in the development of the community, particularly in preserving the watershed.
