SAN SIMON, Pampanga – Former village chief Rogelio Salvador Jr. of Barangay Concepcion was killed in an ambush along Bambang Road, Brgy. San Miguel here this morning, Nov. 27, according to police reports.
Salvador, 42, running for town councilor under the Kambilan party, was with two others during the incident.
His companion, Joel Salvador, was also killed while another victim, identified as Arnel Caparas, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Dominador Gamboa, 61, of Barangay San Miguel recounted to police that the victims were on board a Chevrolet Trailblazer (CDZ5651) heading towards Brgy. San Jose when an unidentified car from the opposite lane fired at the victims’ vehicle multiple times.
According to reports, Salvador and Caparas are complainants in a case against suspended mayor Abundio Punsalan and five councilors who were found guilty of grave dishonesty, grave misconduct, grave abuse of authority, and gross negligence by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
They are also complainants in other criminal and administrative cases filed against the suspended mayor before the Office of the Ombudsman.
