LUBAO, Pampanga – Senator Imee Marcos urged all stakeholders to respect and follow the decision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ban Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country.
She made the call after some groups asked Marcos Jr. to exempt at least 42 POGOs from his order made during the recent State of the Nation Address.
Sen. Marcos, sister of the Philippine president, said the groups were asking Marcos Jr. to retain some of the POGOs to save at least 42,000 jobs.
“Let us put the case to rest and simply follow the order of the president,” Sen. Marcos said in the dialect.
“Anyway, the government will help the displaced workers get new jobs,” she added in an interview during the distribution of nutribun and toys to some children at the Lubao Gym here on August 16.
It could be recalled that illegal POGO hubs were raided in Bamban, Tarlac and Porac, Pampanga.
Earlier, the Phiippine National Police in Central assured the public that there will be no resurgence of POGOs in the region.
Sen. Marcos was in Pampanga together with Second District Rep. Gloria Macapaga Arroyo to hold dialogues and attend the distribution of aid to farmers and barangay leaders. She and Arroyo also attended the 33rd anniversary of the Bureau of Fire and Protection of Central Luzon.
