CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — SM Prime Holdings Inc. and the City government of San Fernando recently inaugurated the new Giant Lantern and Tourist Information Center, which showcases the centuries-old tradition of giant lantern making.
The center, which sits on a 5,000-sqm meter property, will house an exhibit space, a museum, pasalubong shop, library and archives center, an office for the city’s tourism department, a conference room plus an amphitheater in front of the building which will soon be open to the public.
SM Development Corporation (SMDC) president Jose Mari Banzon thanked the city government for the partnership geared towards promoting tourism and preserving culture and heritage which is also one of SM’s advocacies.
Leading the inauguration rites were City Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and SM Development Corporation President Jose Mari Banzon, the project’s developer, with SM Supermalls Senior Vice President for Operations Engr. Bien Mateo, SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, Councilor and Vice Mayor elect BJ Lagman, City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan and City Administrator Atty. Atlee Viray.
