MABALACAT CITY – It was a historic landslide win for City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino, who have earned their second terms as top officials of this Pampanga component city.
Garbo, Aquino and the entire Team MCG council slate were formally proclaimed as winners by the City Board of Canvassers on Tuesday morning (May 10, 2022), at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Legislative Hall.
“The people of Mabalacat City have spoken once again. For which I, Vice Mayor Aquino and our whole team will always be grateful. Through the ballots, they have reaffirmed, in unison, their choice for a governance that firmly stands on integrity, honesty, credibility and unwavering service,” said Mayor Garbo.
“With the help of the Almighty God, we shall endeavor once again to deliver to expectations anchored in our ‘Bayung Mabalacat’ vision. We shall also continue to challenge ourselves to do even more in pushing our beloved city and its people to greater success,” the mayor-elect added.
Based on the official city canvass report, Mayor Garbo earned a whopping 75,794 of the 114,760 total vote turnout. Marino Morales ranked second with 25,926 votes, while Deng Pangilinan was in third place with 3,659 votes.
For the vice mayoralty race, Aquino is a runaway winner garnering 80,051 total number of votes, while his rival Christian Halili is at far second with only 25,440 votes.
Meanwhile, all Team MCG’s council bets entered the top 10 cut. Leading the pack is councilor-elect Jun Castro (77,440 votes), Cherry Manalo (63,782 votes), Marjorie Sambo (62,690 votes), Timmy Dee (62,125 votes), Cocoy Tiglao (57,171 votes), Noel Castro (56,489 votes), Liza Pineda (55,508 votes), Rox Peña (54,619 votes), Jerry Magsino (52,768 votes), and Carl Dizon (47,145).
With a huge margin over their opponents, this historic win is attributed to the people’s overwhelming support for Team MCG’s Bayung Mabalacat. The victory also confirmed surveys conducted that went in Team MCG’s favor.
With the overwhelming victory, Garbo has extended his offer of reconciliation.
“I and the Team MCG once again offer an open door policy where even those from different side could have places in serving our people without conditions. Deeds and words that were not helpful are all now but part of the past. The future holds better promise with a hand of renewed commitment and a heart for new beginnings. Marami pong salamat mga minamahal kong mga kababayan,” said Garbo.
