CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Apalit Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco, Jr. is the new president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Pampanga Chapter after receiving unanimous votes during an election held at the Kingsborough International Convention Center on Wednesday, July 20.
Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, who swore in the new set of officers, expressed full support for Tetangco and the other officials of the league.
“Matagal ko nang kasama si Mayor Jun. Naging bahagi rin ako ng League, at tiwala ako na alam niya kung paano pamumunuan nang maayos ang liga,” said Governor Delta.
For his part, Tetangco said he will concentrate on the province’s recovery from the aftermath of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“‘Yung unity, ‘yon ang number one, eh. Open ang communications ng mayors ng liga–nagkakaisa sila at nagsasabi ng kung ano ang mga kailangan sa ating gobernador. Si Gov. Delta naman, bukas din sa kung ano ang pwede niyang maitulong sa ‘ming mayors,” he said, as he also thanked his fellow officials for their trust and confidence in his leadership.
Tetangco also commended his predecessor, former Minalin Mayor Edgar Flores, for his efforts during the height of the pandemic.
Other officers who were elected are Bacolor Mayor Eduardo Datu, executive vice president; Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque, secretary; Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda, treasurer; Sta. Ana Mayor Norberto Gamboa, auditor; Macabebe Mayor Leonardo Flores, public relations officer; and Arayat Mayor Maria Lourdes Alejandrino, business manager.
Other officers include Magalang Mayor Maria Lourdes Lacson, vice president for 1st district; Porac Mayor Jaime Capil, vice president for 2nd district; Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang, vice president for 3rd district; and San Luis Mayor Jayson Sagum, vice president for 4th district.
Guagua Mayor Anthony Joseph Torres, Sasmuan Mayor Catalina Cabrera, Floridablanca Mayor Darwin Manalansan, Sta. Rita Mayor Arthur Salalila, Sto. Tomas Mayor John Sambo, San Simon Mayor Abundio Punsalan, Jr., Minalin Mayor Philip Naguit, and Masantol Mayor Jose Antonio Bustos, III were also elected as board of directors.
