LUBAO, Pampanga — The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) on Tuesday approved an additional funding of ₱40 million for the Phase II expansion of the Lubao Bamboo Hub in Barangay Sta. Catalina, which is seen to boost the town’s tourism.
In a press conference held after the site visit of TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, he said the additional funding is aimed at enhancing sustainable tourism while showcasing Lubao’s local culture and bamboo industry. The full expansion of the eco-tourism site is targeted for completion within the year.

Lapid said Phase 2 will proceed following the successful completion of Phase 1, introducing new attractions to improve the overall visitor experience.
Among the planned developments are a floating restaurant, a pedestrian bridge, and additional boats to accommodate more tourists and expand on-site activities.

Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda said the expansion is expected to generate jobs and livelihood opportunities for residents, while supporting small businesses and promoting bamboo-based products.
She added that the project will help ensure sustainable and community-driven tourism growth in Lubao.
