CLARK FREEPORT — The trainset for PNR Clark Phase 1 (Malolos-Clark), which is part of 13 trainsets purchased by DOTr from Japan Transport Engineering Company and Sumitomo Corporation, is currently at the Port of Manila.
It will now go through Custom clearances. Once the trainset is cleared, it will be taken to the Malanday Depot in Valenzuela this coming December.
The trainset passed the Factory Acceptance Test at the J-TREC Factory in Japan in October 2021, before it was delivered to the country.
In addition, the second trainset for the project is expected to arrive in the country in the 2nd quarter of 2022.
Once the PNR Clark Phase 1 – which will connect Malolos, Bulacan, and Tutuban, Manila – becomes operational, transport will be fast, seamless, and comfortable, as it will only take 35 minutes, from the current one hour and 30 minutes. It is also expected to serve about 300,000 passengers.
