Uy backs Mayor Lazatin’s smart city vision

ANGELES CITY – Converge ICT Solutions Inc. Co-Founder and CEO Dennis Uy said innovation and technology in public service will significantly improve surveillance, disaster response, and crime prevention in the city.

Uy bared this during the inauguration of the Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center on Feb. 6, where he reaffirmed his strong support for Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.’s push for a smarter and more secure city.

Uy, during his speech, commended the Lazatin brothers – Mayor Lazatin and First District Congressman Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II – and described them as progressive, adaptive, and innovative leaders.

“That is why there is a better future for Angeles under the Lazatin brothers,” Uy stated.

“Thank you to Mayor Pogi and all of you here for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this meaningful project. Let’s continue to build a brighter, safer, and more connected future together,” Uy shared.

Uy, who was raised in Angeles, also shared his personal connection to the city’s development.

“As this is my hometown, this project holds a special place in my heart. Keni ku dinagul, keni ku minasensu, keni ku magbalik,” Uy said.

(Here, I grew up. Here, I succeeded. Here, I give back.)

With this upgrade, the city has more than doubled its CCTV coverage, from 165 to 375 sites, strengthening surveillance capabilities throughout city’s key locations.

The new high-tech cameras can detect traffic violations such as driving in the wrong lane, overspeeding, and distracted driving, as well as monitor compliance with seat belt and helmet laws.

Uy also highlighted the expansion of the city’s digital infrastructure, including the provision of free Wi-Fi to 60 sites—covering schools, barangay halls, and rural health units, including Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC).

Looking ahead, Uy announced Converge’s plan to establish a major data center in Angeles, reinforcing the city’s role as a digital hub in Central Luzon.

“Angeles City stands as a prime example of a fully functioning, world-class smart city one that should serve as a benchmark for other cities across the country,” Uy furthered.

He also revealed plans for Pampanga Tech City, which aims to foster technological advancements, provide training opportunities, and generate jobs.

“As we cut the ribbon today, we are not just launching an upgraded facility—we are ushering in a new era of safety, connectivity, and progress under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership,” Uy concluded.

The city’s command center upgrade, made possible through Converge’s technological support, aligns with Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to modernizing public services and ensuring a safer city for all Angeleños.
