VG Nanay vows to keep Korean community safe

Vice Governor Lilia G. Pineda, in a dialogue with some 100 Korean leaders in the city, vowed to address their safety and the peace and order situation in the barangays where they reside.

The Vice Governor, along with Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., heeded the call of the Korean Ambassador to the Philippines to help the Korean community living in Angeles City in their safety against lawlessness.

She said after Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda learned about the incidents of robbery, theft, and snatching against Koreans living in Angeles, he immediately donated two motorcycles for the city’s police patrol to curb crimes.

Based on records, Korean Community Association for Central Luzon President Jong Phil Choi said cases of robbery and theft in the city are pegged at 50 incidents per month.

To date, some 15,000 Koreans are living in the area. The vice governor also asked Mayor Lazatin to put more barangay police to look after the Korean community.

“We will try our best to address your safety as well as the peace and order in your community,” Vice Governor Pineda said.
