The Wesleyan University-Philippines has always committed to delivering quality instruction through relevant, transformative, and holistic education founded on Wesleyan Tradition.
It is one of only 68 higher education institutions in the Philippines granted autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education — and only five private schools in Region III enjoy this status.
Over the years, WU-P has achieved remarkable milestones with the end in view of sustained improvement of services for the satisfaction of its stakeholders, taking into consideration its long tradition of excellence in instruction, research, and community service; the high performance of its graduates in licensure examinations; and for having an effective Quality Assurance System.
As it celebrated its 79th Founding Anniversary recently, its current President, Irineo “Bong” Alvaro Jr., has highlighted WU-P’s achievements, outlining the university’s milestones and its roadmap for the future.

Under his helm, the institution has focused on major infrastructure projects, including the acquisition of a property in Concepcion, Tarlac which will soon be transformed into Wesleyan Tarlac Campus.
President Alvaro attributed WU-P’s continuous growth on these infra projects, which will further take the educational institution to further heights.
In fact, one of these projects include efforts being implemented to prevent flooding in the university during the rainy season. Pretty soon, it will have a University Water Refilling Station and a University Printing Press, both of which are set to contribute to the self-sustainability of the institution.
President Alvaro also mentioned a Café and Al Fresco Dining at the second floor of the University Library, which is envisioned to serve as a vibrant student hub.
Beyond infrastructure, WU-P has achieved numerous academic and institutional achievements under the University President’s tutelage.
WU-P has maintained its Autonomous Status and has secured Institutional Re-accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ACSCU).
Also, the Wesleyan University-Philippines Hospital has undergone significant rehabilitation, and the John Wesley School of Law & Governance has earned Government Recognition.
Additionally, WU-P has achieved ISO certification from both the Singapore Accreditation Council and the United Kingdom Accreditation System. The university’s inclusion in the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Network reflects its growing presence in the global academic community.
Moreover, its application to the World University Rankings for Innovation and its recertification from the US Veterans Affairs as an Educational Institution highlights its commitment to internationalization.
The president also took pride in the exceptional achievements of WU-P’s students in recent licensure examinations. He lauded Amia Francezka Bautista for securing 9th Place in the Philippine Nurses Licensure Exam in November 2024, and Angel May Almeron for achieving 2nd Place in the X-Ray Technologist Licensure Exam in December 2024.
