Mabalacat City’s Reproductive Health and Wellness Center now open

MABALACAT CITY — The city’s Primary HIV Care Clinic and Reproductive Health and Wellness Center has opened its doors to Mabalaquenians, with the aim of improving healthcare services.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo led the ribbon cutting signaling the opening of the Wellness Center, which will provide screening tests for HIV and sexually transmitted infections, counselling and treatment to positive patients including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) service as well as outreach services and family planning.

Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino III, City Councilor Dr. Victor Tiglao III, city health office head Ma. Clara Aquino and CHO key personnel joined the mayor during the ceremonies. An initial walk through to check on the amenities followed.

Garbo said the HIV care and reproductive health service has been part of the city’s program since 2018 through Rural Health Unit II.

“Going back sa pagpapatayo at expansion ng building, dati po ay ginagamit lang po ito ng Barangay Dau. Pero in-extend po natin ito since malaki po ang sakop ng ating RHU 2,” said Garbo. “Still focusing on the reproductive wellness ng ating mga kababayan at awareness sa HIV, hindi po natin pwede itong iwanan.”

Garbo also mentioned that the city government is aiming to establish a total of six RHUs this year in line with the city government’s plan to improve health services.

The mayor also hopes to raise awareness on HIV and stop the stigma on the disease as various reproductive health campaigns will also be conducted in the Wellness Center.

Meanwhile, a mobile health and wellness caravan was also launched which will go around the city periodically once the schedule has been finalized.

Located at Ninabel Subdivision in Barangay Dau, the Primary HIV Care Clinic and Reproductive Health and Wellness Center is open daily.
