By Bernard Galang

CAMP OLIVAS – A notorious member of the “Sigue Sigue” Sputnik gang was arrested Thursday evening at a checkpoint in Porac, Pampanga.

Acting Pampanga police director Col. Robin Sarmiento said around 9 p.m., members of Porac police and intel units manning a checkpoint at Bgy. Cangatba, Porac,  conducted a dragnet operation after one Jerby Quedan informed police that his motorcycle was stolen.

Sarmiento said the operation resulted in the arrest of 25-year-old Arcee Dizon, in the police drug list and member of the notorious Sigue Sigue Sputnik gang.

Dizon was flagged down by police officers at the checkpoint. However, the suspect suddenly made a U-turn, prompting the cops to chase him. He was later cornered and upon inspection yielded one .38 pistol, three live bullets; two  plastic sachets worth P13,600; two P100 bills; and a plateless motorcycle which was later identified by Quendan as his after presenting proper documents.

Sarmiento said the suspect will be charged with violations of  RA 10883, RA 9165 and RA 10591.

PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon vowed to launch operations to wipe out all forms of crime in the region.
