CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Provincial Government of Pampanga distributed P100,000 in incentives each to some 40 senior citizens aged 95 years old and above.

On behalf of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda personally handed over the checks to each beneficiary during a simple ceremony held at the New Legislative Building here on Tuesday, May 24.

In her speech, Vice Governor Pineda underscored the important role of each family member in ensuring the welfare of the elderly citizens.

Ibie yu pu ing lugud yu kareng kekayung pengari para lakas ya at ela misasakitan. Kasi pu ikayu ing inspirasyun da. Ikayu pu ing inspirasyun da king pamibie-bie,” Pineda said.

According to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Governor Delta emphasized the continued provision of this much-needed financial support to the elderly Kapampangans especially during these unprecedented times of the worldwide pandemic.

Lolo Pio Bagtas, a 102-year-old beneficiary from Mexico town, expressed his gratitude for the assistance extended to them.

Dakal pung salamat kening binye yu pu kekami. Kalambat ku ne pung paninayan ini,” Bagtas shared.

The said incentive program was made possible through Ordinance 647 or the Senior Citizen Code, which entitles elderly Kapampangans aged 95 and above and are still living a P100,000 cash incentive and a plaque of appreciation for their contribution to the society.

It can be noted that the province of Pampanga has been the pioneer of giving cash incentives to centenarians. Before, only centenarians can avail of the program. Later on the ordinance was amended to lower the age of the beneficiaries from 100 to 95 years old.

To date, a total of 340 recipients have already benefited from the said program.
