ANGELES CITY — To recognize their unwavering services amid the pandemic, the city’s day care workers will be given cash incentives and plaques of recognition on June 9, 2022.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said that during the pandemic, the day care workers served as frontliners during the delivery and preparation of food assistance to the 33 barangays as well as being support staff in the city’s mega vaccination sites.
“Bagamat po kinakaharap ang pandemya, ay nagserbisyo pa rin po sila sa ating mga kababayan. Maraming salamat po sainyong hindi matawarang serbisyo,” Lazatin mentioned.
The cash incentives, Lazatin said, will be equivalent to their rendered years in service.
The recognition is also part of the city’s celebration of National Day Care Workers’ week from June 7 to 11 every year, under Proclamation No. 404.
For her part, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso expressed her heartfelt joy to the city government’s initiative in honoring the service of the day care workers.
Duaso said Mayor Lazatin has been ensuring the welfare of the day care workers and the development of the centers even in the face of the pandemic.
She highlighted the provision of P1,000 salary raise which started in 2021; 76 air conditioning units distributed in each center last January 2021; 76 electric fans given on March 2020; and the allotted P5-million fund for the repair and rehabilitation of the centers.
During his stint as City Councilor, Mayor Lazatin was instrumental in the development of the Day Care Centers. The local chief executive has also been cited by the day care workers for remembering their natal days by giving them birthday cakes.
“Maraming salamat po Mayor Pogi for honoring our day care workers, in the event of the pandemic or even before the heath crisis,” Duaso mentioned.
