CSF barangay vehicles get ‘reconditioned’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A total of 21 barangay patrols were reconditioned through the initiative of mayoralty aspirant Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab.

Pineda-Cayabyab, who personally funded the reconditioning, led the turnover of the 21 barangay patrol vehicles, which were among the units donated by the provincial government of Pampanga to barangay councils in 2014 in an effort to improve mobility of village officials in responding to various emergencies.

Due to limited budget, many barangays cannot afford the upkeep of their vehicles, which are left in almost unserviceable condition.

Pineda-Cayabyab, whose political platforms include improvement of health services, said the vehicles play a crucial part in the health program.

Aside from general itineraries, the vehicles are used as mobile service for the barangay peace-keeping force, and often as ambulance for health emergencies.

Some of the vehicles only required electrical reconfiguration but some needed major repairs, which the barangays cannot afford to cover.
