Alviera launches 1st-ever lightning frisbee championship

Representatives from Alviera and Binibinis Ultimate officially open the Alviera Lightning Frisbee Championship for the benefit of the Binibinis Pilipinas Ultimate Team’s campaign to the WFDF 2025 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships in Spain.

PORAC, Pampanga – The first-ever Alviera Lightning Frisbee Championship was launched over the weekend, marking a bold step in elevating the sports landscape in Central Luzon.

Over 400 participants composed of 10 teams and 200 players gathered from across Luzon not only to compete, but to rally behind a shared cause.

More than just a tournament, the event serves as a fundraiser for the Binibinis Pilipinas Ultimate Team, with proceeds going toward their campaign for the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) 2025 World Under-24 (U24) Ultimate Championships in Spain.

Launched under the Alviera Sports Program in partnership with XMPLR Sports, this pioneering tournament highlights Alviera’s vision of becoming the region’s top destination for sports and adventure, championing a broader goal of empowering Filipino athletes to take their talents to the global stage.

“Our vision is to grow Alviera into the premier destination for sports and adventure in the region, especially through our exciting partnership with XMPLR,” said Tin Yabao, Marketing Manager for Ayala Land Estates. “This event is just the beginning of our commitment to fostering vibrant sports communities here in Central Luzon.”

A Faster Game, A Bigger Mission
At the core of the event is the introduction of the XMPLR Lightning Tournament Format, which aims to add a fresh dynamic to ultimate frisbee. By offering increased playing time for each athlete and encouraging a faster pace, the format creates a more engaging and energetic experience for players and spectators alike. This approach reflects a thoughtful evolution of the game, contributing to the continued growth of ultimate frisbee in the Philippines.

“At XMPLR, we believe in the power of sports to create positive change,” shared Robbie de Vera, XMPLR President. “We are happy to support the growth of ultimate frisbee and more importantly, to support the U24 Binibinis in this fundraiser. This event is just one of many initiatives we have planned so watch out for more XMPLR events coming soon!”

For the Binibinis Pilipinas Ultimate Team, the Alviera Lightning Frisbee Championship is more than a tournament – it’s a lifeline and launchpad. As the team prepares to represent the Philippines at the World Championships, the tournament serves as a crucial fundraising effort to support their training and competition needs.

“We are deeply grateful to Alviera and XMPLR for this incredible opportunity,” said Camy Cruz, member of the U24 Philippine Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Team. “This exciting initiative will not only energize our team but also help grow the ultimate frisbee community in the Philippines. We look forward to representing our country with pride and doing our best at the World Championships. We invite everyone to support us on this journey!”

By combining community engagement with innovative competition, the event exemplifies Alviera’s commitment to elevating the sporting experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of the Filipino athletes.
