Angeles City bags multiple awards under Lazatin admin

ANGELES CITY – The City Government here, under the helm of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., has bagged multiple awards and citations – latest of which is from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), citing Angeles City as the 5th Most Improved Highly-Urbanized City (HUC) in the Competitiveness Index for year 2021.

Earlier in the year, the City Government was also given a citation by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) for being the Top 6 City nationwide, in terms of collection efficiency of locally-sourced revenues.

On December 2021, the City Government was cited by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as one of the 23 HUCs in the country to first achieve “herd immunity” against COVID-19.

The DILG has also lauded the City Government for two consecutive years, in 2020 and 2021, for having Anti-Drug Programs with “High Functionality”. The citation plaques were received by the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ACADAC).

On August 2021, Angeles City received the Prime HRM Bronze Award from the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

In 2020, Angeles City also received a citation from the Anti-Corruption Civil Movement General Federation during the 7th UN International Anti-Corruption Day, which was held in South Korea.

Lazatin expressed his thanks to the employees of the City Government for their tireless dedication, which contributed to the City’s accomplishment of these accolades.

“Hindi po natin magagawa ang lahat ng ito ng mag-isa kaya nagpapasalamat ako sa mga kawani ng Angeles LGU sa kanilang sipag at dedikasyon sa kanilang mga trabaho,” said Lazatin. “Para sa inyo po talaga ang mga pagkilalang ito.”

Lazatin is serving his first term as Mayor of Angeles City, having been elected in 2019. He is currently running in the 2022 Elections for a second term, along with his running mate, incumbent City Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting.

If re-elected, Lazatin said that the cornerstone for his second term in office shall be economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with Health and Social Welfare, and Sustainability.
