ANGELES CITY — The city’s main evacuation center in Barangay Mining here was inaugurated this morning by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II.
Office for Civil Defense Regional Director Cesar Idio served as the guest of honor during the opening of the main evacuation center.
The Lazatin brothers were joined by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, City Councilor Marino Bañola, Department of the Interior and Local Government Angeles City Director Darwin David, Mayor Pogi’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Cong. Jon’s Chief-of-Staff Jannie Sarmiento, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon.
Mayor Lazatin wants to ensure that the center is ready in the event of any emergencies and natural calamities.
To recall, Mayor Lazatin instructed Manuel and City Engineer Donato Dizon to supervise the renovation and improvement of the evacuation center.
The said center, with complete and improved facilities, has a kitchen, mess hall, lactating area, prayer room, and playing area for kids.
There is also a clinic in the center which has readily available medicines.
Aside from the main evacuation center in Mining, the city also has alternate evacuation sites: the covered courts at Capaya, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic and Anunas.
Meanwhile, Simeon further thanked the administration of Mayor Lazatin in giving priority to the disaster mitigation and preparedness plan of the city against emergencies and natural calamities.
The evacuation center will be managed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso.
Also present during the ribbon cutting ceremony are Duaso, Engr. Dizon, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, Information and Communication Technology Division Chief Michael Lising, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, Angeles City Fire Director FSupt. Errick Derro, PLtCol. Deonido Maniago Jr. of Angeles City Police Office, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, Liga ng mga Barangay Angeles City President Jeremias Alejandrino, and Barangay Mining Captain Lester Hernandez.
