Peace rally vs terrorism held in Tarlac

TARLAC — Up to two hundred individuals from various sectors of society from Central Luzon joined hands in a peace rally held at the Covered Court of Barangay Sta. Rita, Capas, Tarlac on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

In the said gathering, various sectors called for peace and unity while condemning the communist terrorist groups, who they claim to be a big obstacle in achieving peace and development in the country.

Huwag nating payagan na mamayani ang makakaliwang grupo sa ating bayan. Kaya suportahan natin ang Pamahalaan, dahil buo ang programa nito patungo sa kapayapaan at kaunlaran,” said Angel Reyes, a former rebel and representative from the women’s sector.

The representatives of different sectors and government agencies also took an oath and signed a document to help and participate in government projects for peace.

In the message of Governor Susan Yap, which was read by Board Member Henry P. Cruz of the third district of Tarlac, he said the purpose of the gathering is important to unite in the aspiration to achieve a long-term stage of development in the province, at the same having a peaceful and prosperous life of all citizens covering different sectors of society.

Ito po ang kahalagahan ng ating pagtitipon upang sa ating maliliit na pamamaraan ay mabigyang kaliwanagan ang lahat patungkol sa tunay na saysay ng pagkakaisa, pagtutulungan at pakikipag-ugnayan. Batid natin ang katotohanan na tayo ay may pagkakaiba subalit ikintal natin sa ating puso’t isipan na tayo ay nararapat na magkaroon ng solidong balangkas para sa kapakanan at kabutihan ng lahat,” the Governor’s message reads.

He further insisted that the government is not an enemy, rather it is an ally in facing every challenge and battle.

Kaagapay po ninyo ang pamahalaan, at sa ating pagkakaisa at bayanihan ay paniguradong malalampasan natin ang anumang laban na higit na magpapatibay sa pundasyon ng ating lipunan,” he said.

Ltc Jezser M Bautista, Commanding Officer of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion, Philippine Army, called on the communist terrorists to unite with the government to achieve peace.

Sana po ay maliwanagan ang ating kaisipan at patuloy tayong humikayat ng mgakamag-anak natin, mga mahal sa buhay na kabilang pa sa mga makakaliwang grupo.Narinig po natin ang commitment ng Pamahalaan, ng ibat ibang ahensya na handasilang tumulong para mapaunlad ang antas ng ating pamumuhay,” Bautista said.

In the final part of the activity, candles were simultaneously lit and prayers were offered to those who were victims of the violence of the communist terrorist groups, while doves were flown as a symbol of peace.

The activity was also attended by various government agencies, representatives of the Provincial Government of Tarlac, Local Government Unit of the municipalities of Capas, Bamban and San Jose Tarlac, National Commission on Indigenous People, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Interior and Local Government, Police and the Military attended.
